ALANIS SMITH
“You’re overthinking it, the pain is normal...” I’ve never been able to shake those words... “Normal”... How can daily pain be normal? It’s been the same for 9 years now, up until one doctor actually listened and gave me an explanation of what my pain could be. Now I have to wait again to see if that explanation is true... The pain gets worse each time...
1 in 10 people suffer with the condition endometriosis, which is when lining similar to the uterus grows outside of it, for example on the fallopian tubes. The pain can feel like stabbing, burning, pinching or pressure, like someone is squeezing your insides and won't let go. Not much is known about the condition and as of now there is no cure, but there needs to be a turning point where doctors stop denying our pain. My pain is real... Our pain is real...
