BRYDIE STEVENSON
Brydie combines sculpture, projection and audio to create politically charged installation works. Through her practice, Brydie aims to educate and inform her audience on issues she feels are underrepresented in the media and public discourse. These issues often revolve around central themes of technology and the dangers of AI and technology in our modern world.
Through her piece Swarm, Brydie explores the use of AI in modern day warfare, in particular the introduction of fully autonomous lethal weapons - often dubbed “Slaughterbots”. She invites the audience to question whether the introduction of these new weapons systems will irreversibly shift the power balance and pose a terrifying threat to the safety of soldiers and civilians alike. Will we sit idly by as the Pandora’s Box of autonomous weapons is thrown open?
