Phil Tatton’s practice investigates the inherent aspects associated with land art in community settings; exploringing how the boundary between life and art can become blurred through the application of relational aesthetics used in combination with the Happening. Both of these interests share his fascination with the ephemeral qualities of time based practice; he is most interested in the potential and excitement of performance art. Entwined in these modes of expression, Tatton incorporates his keen interest in political activism and a phenomenological study of our connection to nature. His work is at times visceral, and often concentrates on elemental and organic qualities.
