Catharsis

Catharsis explores the process of personal narrative from conception to resolution. The process begins with writing, a cathartic experience, privately performative and ritualistic over a large span of time.
This then moves into continuous print as a stream of consciousness, the paper becomes a person experiencing life events, trauma and sadness. The more that is printed the more traces of narrative are left behind, imprinted.
The process of going back over the printed text in order to correct errors provides healing, and acts as a release.
The live printing acts as a defence mechanism through the redaction of information and
censorship, the computer acts as the filter and provides a safety barrier between the artist and the audience.
