Stella Olivier is an Italian-German visual artist. Via collage, graphic design, digital archiving sculpture and other media, she investigates the hidden connections between neglected, contemporary objects, spaces and antiquary. Her work centres on escapism, historical mimesis and post-internet theories.
In ‘The Memory of Stone’ she explores fragments from the collective memory of digital and urban life through artificial intelligence and digital archiving.Ceramics depicting Instagram semiotics and rocks, adorn imagery from Plymouth and Venice altered to capture the potential past and future of stone builds. Blending fiction and the mundane, the work celebrates the rural, architectural heritage stone through a digital gaze.
