Aqua Singularis: The Last Reservoir.
‘Aqua Singularis: The Last Reservoir’ delves into the profound impacts of consumption and human impact on aquatic environments. The central piece is a scallop dredger net made from recycled wine bottles, symbolising the effects of overconsumption on marine habitats. Glass coral sculptures that serve as a vivid juxtaposition against the dredger net, highlight the fragile beauty of marine life amidst human-induced turmoil. Hughes-Law's intimate connection with the ocean, as an all year round sea swimmer, gives rise to witnessing the environmental neglect, including heart-wrenching sights of injured or deceased marine fauna, which fuels her advocacy for conservation. This work serves as a call to action, urging viewers to reflect on their role in preserving marine ecosystems. Hughes-Law transforms ‘Aqua Singularis’ into a platform for environmental awareness and responsibility.
